Collection of general information when you visit our website
Information of a general nature is automatically collected by a cookie when you access our website. This information (server log files) includes, among other things, the type of browser used, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider, and other similar data. None of the information collected can be connected to you as an individual.
This information is produced automatically during Internet use and is required for technical reasons that the requested web content can be correctly displayed. It is processed for the following purposes in particular:
- Ensuring smooth connection to the website,
- Ensuring our website works properly,
- Evaluation of system security and stability and
- for other administrative purposes.
The processing of your personal data is based on our legitimate interest arising from the aforementioned purposes of data collection. We do not use your data to draw conclusions about you personally. The only recipients of the data are the responsible body and, if applicable, the external processor.
Anonymous information of this kind can be statistically analyzed in order to improve our website and its underlying technology.
Cookies
We use "cookies", as do many other websites. Cookies are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. When this happens, we automatically receive certain data, such as your IP address, the browser used, the operating system on your computer, and your connection to the Internet.
Cookies cannot be used to run programs or transfer viruses to your computer. Based on the information contained in the cookies, we can simplify navigation for you and ensure that our website displays correctly.
The information we collect will never be forwarded to third parties or linked to your personal data without your explicit consent.
Our website can, of course, be viewed without the use of cookies. Internet browsers are normally configured to accept cookies. You can disable the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please refer to your Internet browser's help feature to learn how you can change these settings. Please note that some of our website features may not work if you have disabled the use of cookies.
SSL encryption
To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption methods (e.g., SSL) via HTTPS.
Contact form
If you contact us with any questions by e-mail or through the contact form, you thereby give us your consent to contact you. A valid email address is required for this purpose. This is used to allocate the request and then reply to it. The provision of any further data is optional. The information you give us will be stored for the purpose of processing the request, as well as for potential follow-up questions. After your request has been processed, your personal data will be deleted automatically.
Analyse-Tool Matomo
We use the open source software tool Matomo (formerly PIWIK) on our website to analyze the surfing behavior of our users. The software places a cookie on the user's computer (see above for cookies). If individual pages of our website are called up, the following data is stored:
- Two bytes of the IP address of the calling system of the user
- The accessed website
- The website from which the user came to the accessed website (referrer)
- The sub-pages that are accessed from the accessed website
- The length of time spent on the website
- The frequency with which the website is accessed
The software runs exclusively on the servers of our website. The user's personal data is only stored there. The data will not be passed on to third parties.
The software is set so that the IP addresses are not saved in full, but 2 bytes of the IP address are masked (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx). In this way, it is no longer possible to assign the shortened IP address to the calling computer.
There is a public interest in the processing of users' personal data in accordance with Art. 6 Paragraph 1 lit. e of the GDPR in conjunction with § 3 of the Lower Saxony Data Protection Act and the LwKG, because the LWK's website is used to perform our public tasks.
The processing of the personal data of the users enables us to analyze the surfing behavior of our users. By evaluating the data obtained, we are able to compile information about the use of the individual components of our website. This helps us to continuously improve our website and its user-friendliness and thus to adequately fulfill our public information mandate. By anonymizing the IP address, the interests of users in protecting their personal data are adequately taken into account.
Objection / Deactivation
A deactivation of the tracking by Matomo is possible by using the offered opt-out functions.
Use of Google Maps
This website uses Google Maps API to visually display geographic information. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes and uses data about the use of map features by visitors. For more information about Google's data processing, please refer to the Google Privacy Notice. There, you can also access the Data Protection Centre to change the privacy preferences for your personal data.
Detailed instructions for managing your own data in connection with Google products can be found here.
Embedded YouTube videos
On some of our websites we embed YouTube videos. The operator of the plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. As soon as you visit a page with a YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube servers will be established. This will inform YouTube which pages you are visiting. When you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can associate your browsing habits with you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.
As soon as a YouTube video starts, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behaviour.
If you have deactivated the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program, you do not have to reckon with such cookies when viewing YouTube videos. YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block cookies from being saved in your browser.
For more information about privacy at “Youtube” see the privacy policy of the provider: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=de
Changes to our Privacy Regulations
We reserve the right to adjust this privacy policy so that it always meets the current legal requirements or to include changes to our services in the privacy policy, such as the introduction of new services (website function). Any subsequent website access will then be subject to the terms of the new privacy policy.
